UALSZ – voluntary, nongovernmental professional public organization, which unites on basis of general interests students, graduate students, young lawyers and other persons, who study jurisprudence.The organization was created and registered in December 20 1994.It was re-registered as youth public organization in 1999.
UALSZ has been a member and representative of European Law Students Association (ЕLSA) on Zakarpattia since 1995.

Aims and tasks:

1. Protection of human rights;
2. Assistance  of public activity in the process of management and acceptance of decisions;
3. Providing with free of charge information on  legal and economic questions different layers of population; aid in search of skilled lawyers, economists and specialists of other branches;
4.  Organization of legal library, including electronic one;
5. Assistance of development of public structures and education, including legal education;
6. Development of national legal science and education;
7. Issue of scientific and popular  legal literature;
8. Assistance of development of nongovernmental organizations and local representative structures;
9. Improvement of professional level of its members (educational help) , assignment of them on internships to firms located  on territory of Ukraine and abroad ;
10. Establishing of relationships with the higher educational establishments;
11. Establishing of contacts with  scientists, public organizations;
12. Conducting of social questioning and questionnaire of population on questions of perfection of active law of Ukraine;
13. Participation in legislative  processes and discussion of bills and active law, bringing in suggestions  concerning its perfection to Verkhovna Rada, Cabinet of Ministers, local organs of government, President of Ukraine.

 

Basic types of organization activity:

1. Educational (mainly for schoolchildren);
2. Propaganda of legal knowledge among  population, in particular young people;
3. Consultative work (giving of free legal aid to all interested persons );
4. Methodical (for USU Law faculty students): help in search of literature, advices concerning  writing research works; providing them with access to electronic  legal source, instructing how to work on computer etc.

 

Partners and collaboration:
In the process of realization of the tasks, except for organs of state authority and local self-government, UALSZ closely co-operates with Zakarpattian regional department of Committee of Electors of Ukraine (ZRD CEU). From June 2000 UALSZ has been fulfilling the functions of public waiting room of ZRD CEU. UALSZ involves in implementation of some tasks students of Association of Students-Economists of Zakarpattia (ASEZ), the Youth initiative center „For professional activity” (incorporators of which are women-members of UALSZ). UALSZ is also supported by Zakarpattian Regional Mediation Group.
