The organization began its activity in January 2000.
Aims and tasks:
Creation of conditions and possibilities for students to gain practical skills, that is learn to apply its knowledges in practice. Also important task is to help citizens in their legal defense, realization of their rights and interests.
Consultations are given in two ways:
- by correspondence: this service is oriented mainly on condemned (postal address of the legal clinic: 02121 Kiev, P.O.Box 135);
- reception of citizens : the service is oriented on poor categories of citizens ( contact telephone of the clinic 561-18-71 (department of criminal-executive Law).
Aid is given in the next branches of Law:
- Civil Law
- Housing Law
- Civil-judicial Law
- Criminal Law
- Criminal-procedural Law
- Criminal-executive Law
Also according to will of clients students prepare legal documents, carry out pre-court preparation of cases and explain the rules of clients conduct in court and other instances.
The information about clinic work spreads through announcements, distribution of printed information, agitation work with establishments and organs of the State Department of Ukraine on questions of implementation of punishments; in newspaper „Law and duty” ( the newspaper spreads, as a rule, in correctional institutions, among co-operators of this establishments, among former condemned); in the institute edition „Problems of penitencionary theory and practice”.
Collaboration:
Clinic establishes collaboration with the State department of Ukraine on questions of implementation of punishments and its local Governments and establishments ; „Debates” ( informative collaboration ); with other legal clinics; with Society of Institute Listeners and Groups of legal disciplines; Ukrainian committee of Child Defence; public law protective organization „Donetsk memorial”; with Kharkiv law protective organization.
