Legal clinic  “Ad Astra” at  university’s Faculty of Law is created with participation of the Volyn regional organization of Union of Lawyers of  Ukraine  and under sponsorship of International Renaissance Foundation in 1999.

Aims and tasks:

1. introduction into educational process of elements of students’ practical work in free legal aid;
2. giving of free legal aid to poor, multifamilies; to persons who suffered from Chornobyl disaster; to invalids of I and  II groups; to participants of  war and national liberation motions; to  pensionaries; to  refugees;to young people under 18 years old; to  business men, who work in the field of small business about one year; to  persons, who are in imprisonment places and to others;
3. description of clinic work and problems of reformation of  penitencionary system in the “Ad Astra” newspaper, booklets „Know your rights” and other mass mediums;
4. study of realization of rights and freedoms by persons, who are in the imprisonment places, which are located in Volyn region and publishing for them of  booklets „Know your rights”;
5.  practice of giving   legal aid  to old persons, to  invalids and persons, who are in colonies and community-service establishments of region in places of their residence or stay and distributing among them of booklets „Know your rights”.

Aid is given in next branchies of law:

1. Family Law
2. Civil Law
3. Housing Law
4. Economic Law
5. Criminal Law
6. Community-service Law (except for the cases, which have to do with defence of persons, defendants in  commitment of crimes  on  preliminary investigation and in court);

The work of clinic takes place at two levels:
The 1st level – work in the university, which is provided by students of 3-4 years;
The 2nd  level – work in  legal office of the  legal firm „Vitalina” under supervision of practicing lawyer; work is provided by students of 4-5 years;
